After a dramatic four-day journey, the three-member crew of the Apollo 11 mission launched this historic moment. Neil Armstrong, equipped with a portable breathing apparatus in a backpack and a special space suit, descended the ladder of the lunar module and became the first person to touch the lunar surface.
