As the railroad built and carried civilization westward, it didn't always bring civility with it! As new towns arose on the planes it was usually the saloon, not the church, which went up first. But there were some who thought the rails could be as much a part of the solution as the creation of this depravity. From the late 19th to middle 20th Century, several denominations built and operated small rosters of chapel cars which could travel from town to town to spread the gospel, provide baptism and other special services and serve the humanitarian good. Services were even conducted on board during travel with all passengers invited to attend. The railroad seemed to touch every aspect of life - even the spiritual. Based on one of the earliest in use from 1891 to 1925, this model promises to be a discussion point on any model railroad!
