HISTORY ASPECTS:
USS New Jersey (BB-62), an Iowa-class battleship, was commissioned in May 1943 and became one of the most decorated battleships in U.S. history. Built for speed and firepower, it was armed with nine 16-inch guns and a formidable array of anti-aircraft weaponry. During World War II, New Jersey served as the flagship for Admiral William F. Halsey’s Third Fleet, participating in major Pacific campaigns, including the battles of the Philippine Sea and Leyte Gulf. The battleship provided critical naval gunfire support for U.S. forces and defended aircraft carriers from enemy air attacks.
During the Korean War, USS New Jersey was recommissioned and played a key role in coastal bombardments, targeting enemy positions along the Korean Peninsula. Its powerful 16-inch guns provided essential fire support for United Nations forces. After being decommissioned, the battleship was once again called to service during the Vietnam War, delivering devastating shore bombardments in support of American and South Vietnamese troops. Its firepower proved instrumental in disrupting enemy supply lines and fortifications.
In the 1980s, New Jersey was modernized as part of President Reagan’s naval expansion program, equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles and Harpoon anti-ship missiles. It was reactivated and deployed to the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf, demonstrating American naval power during the Lebanese Civil War. After decades of service spanning four conflicts, USS New Jersey was finally decommissioned in 1991 and is now preserved as a museum ship in Camden, New Jersey.
This 1:1100 scale model captures the iconic battleship in stunning detail, from its imposing gun turrets to its sleek Iowa-class design. Whether you're a naval history enthusiast or a dedicated model collector, this replica brings a piece of American naval dominance to your collection. Add the legendary "Big J" to your fleet today!
