Lacquer Model Paint

Lacquer is what you reach for when you want a glass-smooth body finish 
or a genuine metal look. It sprays thinner, dries faster and polishes 
better than anything else — which is why show-quality car builds almost 
always end up in lacquer for the final coats.

It's also the least forgiving. Lacquer bites into bare plastic and will 
craze it if sprayed too heavily, and the fumes need real ventilation. 
Prime first, build up in light coats, and work outdoors or with 
extraction.

Our lacquer range covers Tamiya's TS spray cans and LP bottles, Alclad II 
metallics — the chrome and polished aluminum standard for engine and trim work — and lacquer clear coats for polishing out.

Layering rule: lacquer goes on last, or over a cured primer. Spraying lacquer over enamel or acrylic will usually lift the coat underneath.
